Westside Elite/Cy Fair consists of six Elite basketball teams with players from the Dallas Ft. Worth area. The Westside Elite name originally started where the home practices and sponsor was Westside Baptist Church in Lewisville, Texas – “Where Making God’s Word is part of His plan”. The basketball program was established in 2005 by Coach Ray Mickens and Coach Vaughn Deary to ensure players received proper development and the necessary tools to compete at the highest levels. Playing under the name Cy Fair now, the Vision hasn't changed as Ray & Vaughn continue to teach the girls about basketball and life.
Vision Statement
We strive to produce well-rounded, socially responsible, spiritual young ladies who are also fundamentally sound basketball players. Off the court, players must maintain at least a “B” average and complete at least two community service projects - annually. On the court, players must understand the basic fundamentals of basketball and be committed to constantly improving their skills. They must display good sportsmanship and always show respect for their coaches, teammates, opponents and game officials.
The Coaches strive to instill discipline, a “hard work ethic”, commitment, teamwork, communication and respect.
History
Since the organization’s inception, the Westside Elite teams have won many tournaments on both the local, regional and national level…Primetime Nationals, BCI, AAU, Nike’s Boo Williams, Battle of the Bayou & Nike Nationals
Goal
To build on established success by making incremental individual improvements at each practice which translate to monumental team improvements each game. Just as important is each player’s commitment to education and continued personal growth away from the court. In addition, it is our mantra to provide an environment for players to display their talents and abilities to college scouts at various national tournaments in order to position themselves to receive basketball scholarships.
